Provide Effective Support for Long-Term Recovery

What's Next?

This is probably the question you hear the most from family members when their loved one is preparing to leave your care. As a caring recovery professional, you recognize that sending your client back to a family system that has not evolved to embrace recovery can be a recipe for disaster.

Studies Have Shown That The Most Important Phase of Your Clients’ Recovery Starts When They Leave Your Care

Once they leave your facility, will they be able to sustain and maintain their recovery?

The numbers are daunting for long-term success in recovery: You probably already know that the success rate for clients leaving addiction treatment facilities in maintaining their recovery is optimistically only 40-50%.

But, having an informed and supportive family system to return to can increase your client's success rate to closer to 90%. And, this can be a direct positive reflection on your facility's outcomes.

What If You Already Have a Family Program?

Many treatment facilities have developed a special program to introduce family members to the unique issues that they will face when their loved one returns from treatment. Our Program is designed to support and continue the good work you've done with your client and their family.

At ReachYES, we believe that addiction is often a family systems issue. One of the keys to your client's long-term recovery is the healing work that their family engages in to deal with the effects of being in relationship with an addict. And, this work isn't going to be completed in a weekend.

Research indicates that, for every addict,
four or more other persons (typically immediate
family members) are adversely affected.
Long-term consequences are considerable.

The affected persons, Recovery Stakeholders, become depressed, develop anxiety disorders and may even become suicidal. As they engage in socially unacceptable behavior the problems mount.

If the affected persons had a safe and effective opportunity to express the confusion, fear, pain
and loss they have experienced, this outcome
could be avoided. They need to treat their
wounds and develop healthy coping skills.

Innocent family members need guidance and
direction to learn how to live normal, healthy lives...despite the fact that they have been
dealing with an addict.

Families that accept the need to heal together have much higher success rates and satisfaction in recovery than those who believe that addiction is the addict's problem.

We know that there's a lot at stake for those that are
intimately involved in the addict's life.
It made sense to refer to those people as Recovery Stakeholders.

Recovery Stakeholders include
spouses, partners, children, other family members,
employers, employees, friends...
even you could be considered a stakeholder.

For people with addiction, family participation in the recovery process can reduce the risk of dropping out of treatment, discourage relapse and promote long-term recovery.

And, the family members benefit too. By making positive changes in the family dynamics, the stress and risk of developing other issues is greatly diminished.

With education and skill building, comes positive change in relationships. As couples treat each other more respectfully, children behave better and the whole family is more strongly connected and gets along.

A Personal note from Charlie Frangos, LPC-MHSP

I understand, intimately, the frustration and pain that families of addicts endure. As a recovering addict and father of two boys who have struggled with addiction I have experienced it from both sides.

In my private practice (and previously as a primary therapist at an inpatient treatment center), I proactively encourage participation in recovery work from stakeholders of the addicts I work with. As a result, I have seen amazing healing take place in families that struggled for years to find ways to relate to each other in healthy ways.

For years, my wife and I have worked to develop ways to use technology to make doing this healing work more convenient and, thereby, accelerate the process for stakeholders and addicts. We have created a virtual learning environment over the last 5 years that allows us to reach many more than we could otherwise if we were limited by requiring physical presence.

Still, we recognize that clinicians and healing centers such as you and yours have developed the trust and confidence with their clients and their families...with a group that doesn't do "trust" well. We hope that you will help us extend that trust to ReachYES.

We want to close the gap so that we can reach many more stakeholders. It is our mission to create thousands of amazing healing experiences for families that have been dealing with addiction.

The ReachYES Stakeholder Support Program is a powerful force to educate and accelerate healing for your clients and their families.

Three to four people are often negatively affected by the addiction of a family member. They believe it's up to them to
keep the family running smoothly...
which may actually be making matters worse.

Trying to make everything better may be as harmful as the original problem...
the addiction they were trying to correct.
That's why it's important to seek outside help.

Dealing with addiction is a big problem that is made much more manageable with help from people who are accustomed to working with it.
